2009 AMA ATV Motocross Championship
Pro Am Production Sound Testing & Qualification Procedures

Morgantown, WV (3/18/2009) - Machines entered in the Pro-Am Production division shall have mufflers / silencers which do not exceed 99db(A) measured at half maximum rpm per MIC manual SAE J1287 test at 0.5 meters (20 inches).
A grace period will be allowed for all machines to come into compliance.

By amateur round 3 (Sunset Ridge - Walnut IL.) all machines must meet the sound expectations before they are allowed to compete. Below is the RPM range for the ATV's in this classification

  • Can Am DS 450 - 2,950
  • Honda TRX 450 - 3,750
  • Kawasaki KFX 450R - 3,750
  • Suzuki LTR 450 - 3,750
  • Yamaha YFZ 450 - 3,750
  • Polaris 450 MXR - 4,250
  • KTM 450 SX - 4,625

Qualifying Procedure for Pro-Am Production:
Pro-Am Production Timed Qualifying: Only the rider's single fastest qualifying lap counts. Eighteen (18) total riders transfer into the main event motos from the Sunday morning practice session. Gate pick for the first moto is determined by this session.

Pro-Am Production LCQ: Two (2) laps. First and second place transfer to the main event motos. If more than 38 riders two LCQs will be ran with 1st place only transferring to the main event motos. The final two transferred riders will be placed as 19th & 20th gate pick in the first moto.
