ACU British Quad-X Championship - Round 7 - Milton Malsor - October 27, 2012

Paul Holmes - Yamaha YFZ450R ATV

DWT's Paul Holmes has won every round this year in the Pro ATV Class aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV

England (10/22/2012) - Paul Holmes won the ACU British Quadcross Championship in round six at Dean Moor but there is still plenty to be settled at the final round of the 2012 season. Organised by ACU Events and taking place on Saturday 27th October at  Milton Malsor, it will be tight at the top for the final podium positions. This weekend will also see the conclusion of the Under 21 and Masters Championships.

Holmes has so far won every round in this year’s championship. Displaying incredible skill and pace he has dominated the season and will be the rider to beat in the last event of the year. Fighting for second and third overall in the championship is tough and scores leave it very tight. Oli Sansom has shown super consistency which has left him running in second place with just one round to go. Once the points have been dropped for each riders worst two races, it puts Justin Reid in second place. Reid has looked strong all season and will be competing in the final round with the likes of Luke Cooper, David Cowan, Connor Smith and Carl Bunce for second and third positions overall in the championship.

Current overall 2012 ACU British Quadcross Championship standings:
Champion 1 Paul Holmes (Yamaha) 353, 2 Oli Sansom (Yamaha) 257, 3 David Cowan (Yamaha) 239, 4 Connor Smith (KTM) 236, 5 Justin Reid (CanAm) 232, 6 Luke Cooper (KTM) 226

Connor Smith leads the Under 21 class by just one point to David Cowan. Points are tight again and there are no certainties. It will come down to the final two races with all the Under 21 riders currently showing excellent form. Contenders battling for a championship overall top three finish include Cooper, Rogers, Sheldon Seal and George Calloway.

Clint Eagle has been soaring in the Masters Championship leading with a gap of 18 points over Martin Sayer. In third place and 25 points behind the leader is Lindsey Duke. Having won the first three rounds with maximum points, Duke had a bad crash in the final race at FatCat Moto Parc which ruled him out of the next round. In round six at Dean Moor, he came back with a superb two races and another perfect score. Andrew Wilcock, Darran Bridge and Anthony Barrett will all be looking for strong results in the final round.

In the Clubman championship, a massive 175 points separates Anthony Canavan from his nearest rival, making him the 2012 Clubman Champion. Having taken the top spot in all but one round, Canavan worked tirelessly to maintain his lead ahead of Michael Campbell and Joe Williams and will be looking to extend the points difference even further at the Milton track.

Riders and spectators alike can expect to see an enthralling and captivating conclusion to this year’s championship. Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children. Milton MX Park is situated in Northamptonshire, postcode NN4 0JF. Directions can be found on the Milton Park website http://www.miltonmxpark.co.uk/
