ACU Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship

ACU Quadcross Heads to Langrish MX This Weekend
Goldspeed ACU British Quad Championship - Round 5 - August 28, 2011

Dean Moor Holeshot

Riders battle it out on the first corner of race two at round 4 - Dean Moor

England (8/22/2011) - This Bank Holiday Weekend sees the ACU Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship visit Langrish Motopark during the prestigious Ken Hall Trophy weekend. With just the adult championships taking place for round five on Sunday 28th August, this will also be the last race for current British Champion Paul Winrow after announcing his retirement at the beginning of the month.

Organised by the Langrish Motor Cycle Racing Club, the circuit offers plenty of action with a hard packed surface, spectacular jumps and drops, as well as being set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. With John Mitchell having so far won each of the previous rounds, could he go on to win another or will one of this year’s other championship contenders succeed this weekend? With Mark Watson, David Wray, Carl Bunce and Paul Holmes all in contention there is still lots of wheel to wheel racing ahead as they all battle for the championship.

The previous round at Dean Moor witnessed some outstanding individual performances. It was a promising start for KTM’s Mark Watson who took an impressive lead to win the first race, followed by ATV World Yamaha’s John Mitchell in second and Holmes Racing’s Paul Holmes in third. As Watson took the lead in race two, his axle broke as he landed a jump and Mitchell capitalised to win race two and the overall round. Holmes finished second with David Wray coming in third. Overall positions saw Mitchell in first, Holmes in second and a return to the podium after two years for Stefan Murphy in third. Murphy also took the Under 21 championship with two consistent results.

Current 2011 ACU Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship standings:
John Mitchell (Yamaha) 191, Mark Watson (KTM) 124, David Wray (Honda) 118, Carl Bunce (Suzuki) 114, Paul Holmes (Yamaha) 109, Giles Davis (Honda) 100

Admission on Sunday is £10 with racing taking place from 11:30am. As it is the 2011 Ken Hall Trophy two day event, camping is also available at £15 per unit. Admission cost for events on Monday is £20 (concessions half price and under 14s free). The track is at Manor Farm in Langrish, situated three miles south of Petersfield on the A272, postcode GU32 1RG. Further information about the track can be found at http://www.langrishmx.com
