Celebration
|
Honda's
South Carolina production facility rolls
out the 1st production Foreman 500, which
was cause for celebration since it was the
first Honda ATV designed & produced
in the USA |
Timmonsville, SC (4/12/2011) -
At 9:15 this morning production was stopped at the
Honda South Carolina plant, but this stoppage was
not due to the slow economy, but rather was cause
for celebration as the first 2012 Honda Foreman
500 rolled off the assembly line and all employees
were gathered to partake in the festivities.
What made this release so special was not that
the 2012 Foreman is redesigned and has many new
features, but because it is the first Honda ATV
to be designed and produced in the United States.
“Aggressively innovate operational characteristics
as one team to exceed customers’ expectations”
is the Honda South Carolina plant’s slogan
and with the milestone achieved today, they have
certainly lived up to it and can now say that
they are truly an American made product. To further
that, the plant also uses 123 suppliers, which
are all located in the States.

Globally, Honda boasts over 150 facilities worldwide
in over 30 countries, which in itself is bragging
rights, but none of those facilities are specifically
dedicated to the manufacturing of ATV’s
except the Honda South Carolina (HSC) plant, which
is a very impressive facility.
|
|
HSC has reached
several milestones since production began
in 1998 after it produced its 1.5 Millionth
ATV unit in 2005 with the Rubicon, and
in 2007 the 400EX marked its 2 Millionth
ATV Unit
|
The HSC complex is a sprawling 625 acres that
includes a 1.4 mile test track. The manufacturing
plant, which originally began production in 1998,
has grown tremendously over the years with the
addition of many new buildings to accommodate
the growing list of parts produced at the facility,
and basic site expansions.
