2009 Dunefest
- Winchester Bay, Oregon
ATV, UTVs, Sand Rails, Motorcycles,
and More...
Winchester Bay, Oregon - There
are a few things every ATV enthusiast must experience
at least once in their lifetime: carving the endless
sands of southern California’s Glamis, the
thrill of a revving engine at the drop of the gate
in a full on ATV race and attend an ATV festival.
The 8000 plus people at this years Oregon DuneFest
had an opportunity to experience two of these must
do’s and what an experience it proved to be.
On Location
Every summer, sand slingers from across the country
make the trek to Winchester Bay Oregon for a week
of live entertainment, intense racing action and
of course, an opportunity to ride one of the largest
coastal san dune ranges in the world. The weeklong
festival kicked off Wednesday morning with activities
ranging from poker runs to drag racing and UTV
Scrambles to barrel racing. No matter what your
machine of choice, or your skill level for that
matter, Oregon’s DuneFest offers something
for everyone.
If by some chance you find yourself without an
ATV to ride, just make your way over to the OEM
display area and take a brand new quad or UTV
for a test ride. Yamaha, Kawasaki and Can-am BRP
were on hand with demo machines available and
the DuneFest staff set up a course specifically
for test riding.

XXX
Rated Racing would be on hand offering discounts
on their products |
After you’ve demoed every ATV on hand,
or should you manage to break something on your
own machine, make your way over to vendor row
where you can save big bucks on parts from major
aftermarket companies as well as other local dealerships.
Industry names like LRD Performance, XXX Rated
Racing, and Got Sand were on hand offering big
discounts on their products and event sponsors
Fox Racing Shox and iShock were taking orders
and helping event goers fine tune their suspension.
Vendor row is a great place to ask questions and
get some great deals on parts for you ATV or side
by side.

The Activities
From start to finish there’s always something
going on at DuneFest and activities coordinator
Joe Mirvis had a full line up of activities to keep
event goers occupied. The poker run and treasure
hunt events have participants scouring the dunes
in search of coupons redeemable for prizes on vendor
row while the Mod Quad Show’n Shine gives
proud owners an opportunity to strut their stuff,
each looking to be crowned the king of bling.
Every day of the event begins with a pancake breakfast
sponsored by one of the OEM manufacturers and after
a long day of riding you can wind down with one
of the live bands jamming on the main stage. This
year’s acts included Retro Active, Paul Watts
and 10 Days Late. WGAS Motorsports was on hand for
the event putting on an amazing Freestyle Motocross
demonstration three times a day. Sadly there were
no quads in the line up but maybe they can book
the Bomb Squad or Akraix next year?
