2008 Dunefest
- Winchester Bay, Oregon - Continued
ATVs, UTVs, Sand Rails, Motorcycles,
and More...
All of the manufacturer’s in attendance at
this year’s festival, including Suzuki, were
set up to let any interested parties take certain
models of ATV’s out for quick test rides.
There was also plenty of staff on hand to answer
any questions about current models and even offer
a bit of tech support for those running into issues
out on the dunes, or who were just wondering about
what upgrades would be best for their particular
ATV.

Motorsports Tire Display at Dunefest |
Although Dunefest is primarily an ATV event, this
year it seemed that side-by-sides were taking over.
The popular vehicles were in abundance out in the
dunes, in the races, and there were many on display
along the jam-packed vendor row. Even GBC Motorsports,
who is the title sponsor for the up-coming Heartland
Challenge, had a tricked out Rhino on display in
vendor row. “This is my first time out here
at Dunefest,” said GBC’s Kevin Johnston.
“This is a really great event and a really
great way for vendors to get the word out about
their products and promote any up-coming events,
like the Heartland Challenge,” he concluded.

ATVs
aren't the only vehicles hitting the dunes
during Dunefest, their are plenty of UTV/SxS
machines along with some old school Honda
Pilot's. Also, the high powered sand rail's
are everywhere as well along with motorcycles

In the past, Dunefest had developed the reputation
as a “party” environment, but in recent
years, the Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce and
Dunefest promoters have been working hard to change
that reputation and turn it into more of a family
friendly event, without alienating any of its regular
attendees. There have been more kids classes added
to the racing events and this year, an enclosed
play area for small children was added to the vendor
area. There were also certain established camping
areas that were set up to be alcohol free for those
seeking a bit quieter experience than that of the
main festival areas.
Each year Dunefest seems to grow in attendance
and popularity and with all of the positive changes
and additional activities added to the roster,
it has developed into one of the premier summer
sand festivals and racing events on the west coast.
