Casto Canyon ATV Adventure Ride - Bryce, Utah
::Continued::

With the beautiful backdrop of the colorful valley floor we took the opportunity to take a quick photo shoot and then we headed back down the hillside to do some more exploring.

The Ruby's Inn Cafe prepared a nice pack lunch for us to eat along the trail

Our plan was to stop and eat lunch around noon once we reached the Casto Canyon trail head. As luck would have it, a local US Forest ranger Joe Rechsteiner who we met on our last trip out here was leading an ATV riding group for the Amazing Earth Fest and were eating lunch as we reached the trail head.

Joe Rechsteiner - US Forest Ranger

US Forest Ranger Joe Rechsteiner was very informative about the Casto Canyon & the Freemont Trail System

“We are participating in an event called the Amazing Earth Fest that is based out of knab, Utah. We were contacted by the director, who wanted to put together a ATV trail ride so we thought Casto Canyon was the best trail to do that on. Casto Canyon is the crown jewel of ATV opportunities. It is a 50-inch or less motorized trail but it gives you the experience of riding through Bryce Canyon. There are lots of red rock Hoodoos. It is a really unique experience for a motorized opportunity.” Stated US Forest ranger Joe Rechsteiner.

After eating a delicious packed lunch from Ruby’s Inn Café and conversing with the rangers and other ATV riders they suggested driving 2 miles down the trail to Peterson Point. So we took their advice, geared up and headed in that direction.
 The trail led us along some cool overlooks that faced in the opposite direction of Casto Canyon.

After speaking with US Forest Ranger Joe Rechsteiner, he suggested checking out Peterson Point which is only a few files from the Casto Canyon / Freemont Trail Head

Once we came to the end of the trail the Ponderosa Pines began to disappear leaving only small trees with curly trucks firmly planted in the white rock ground. We were at Peterson Pointe. This overlook offers an almost 180 degree view of the surrounding area, and the city of Panguitch in the distance.

Peterson Point offers on of the best views on the Freemont Trail System

After seeing Peterson Pointe we got pretty excited to see what Casto Canyon had in store for us.
