Whether
you were attending the various country /
rock concerts or wallowing in the mud pits,
you were having the time of your life at
the 2010 Brimstone ATV Round Up! |
Huntsville, Tennessee – For
the second year in a row, the Brimstone Recreation
facility would play host to the King of the Mountain
SxS and ATV rally. Located in Huntsville Tennessee,
the event would see another successful year as thousands
of off road enthusiasts made their way to the mountain
top clearing that would be transformed into the
main hub of the weekends festivities. The Labor
Day weekend would start for everyone by making a
swing into the main registration area to gather
up the needed permits and waivers to kick off their
weekend.
Local business would be served well as one could
not pass a gas station, car wash or restaurant
that wasn't packed with trucks and trailer loaded
down with ATV's and SxS's. The local hotels were
crammed full as well for those that did not partake
in the on-sight camping at the Brimstone facility
which offers cabins as well as primitive campsites
and hook up's for RV's. With over 20,000 acres
on hand, room is not in short supply!
The event would kick off with trail riding and
events that attracted many to watch and or participate
in several skill challenges and races. Pole bending,
Drag racing and a Sled Pull kept the officials
busy as the events rolled on one after the other.
Self admittedly always late with starting the
events, the laid back southern style of the region
and the staff made things seem almost seamless
and there weren't many looking at their watch.
For being an all volunteer crew, things rolled
on with no major issues.

Competitors
put their big bore machines to the test
with the "lead sled" sled pull
to see who could make it the furthest!
|
UTV's
would also be put head-to-head in an all
out drag race to the finish line to bring
home the bragging right for the day! |
The drag racing was a chance for both Sport and
Utility ATV's to run a heads up style race that
had some of the biggest bore factory machines
flying past the finish line. Bragging rights were
on the line in every class as well as the side
by side races not to mention getting a chance
to compete in front of so many of your friends
and spectators who lined the out skirts of the
main event location. With a brief intermission,
the Sled pull would something to watch as cunning
and set up could be the difference in a good pull!
Gaining traction and knowing when to put the hammer
down all played out as the rounds counted down.
Weight was added as things heated up and a full
pull would garner a huge cheer from the crowd!

Everyone's
attention turned to the slalom course
as this robust "tracked" Yamaha
Grizzly ATV took to the twisty course
& layed down an impressive time!

Hundreds
of spectators along with their UTV's &
ATV's came to the parking area to listen
to some country music in the background |
