Bowling Green, KY (7/7/2011) -
The inaugural training that was held at the Ballance
Racing facility would face some serious obstacles,
all focused on the weather. Thunderstorms rolled
in and dumped rain forcing the crew to make some
changes to the program that probably would have
really benefited those in attendance if we had seen
better track conditions.
After introductions were made, the Ballance riders
dove right in and started looking every machine
over for set up issues relating to suspension.
Personal attention from Bill Ballance himself
would soon find the quad in question being adjusted
to suit what was felt to be the best "baseline"
set up.

This wasn't a "lets kill time" type
of deal, some of the front end settings on many
machines were off, way off. Tape measure in hand,
Taylor Kiser, Walker Fowler and Thomas Brown all
took instruction from Bill Ballance as they all
not only made the changes, but openly discussed
the changes made with the riders so that they
would be able to offer feedback as the weekend
went forward. The rain kept coming but thoughts
were to ride no matter what as the last of the
quads were attended to.

The MX track was out for the day as Bill and
his crew quickly tried to cut in some new track
in the woods and worked feverishly as the sun
finally broke through the clouds. It would be
too late to be of any help, as the ground was
saturated and was soon being churned up as the
riders made their way to the woods. The trainers
were doing their best under the circumstances,
and the riders were doing their best to stay out
of the trees! It was nasty and slick no doubt,
but the show must go on and indeed some of what
was being taught was going to help in some fashion,
even if it was how to ride a nasty , muck filled
course......who would ever find that useful in
XC racing! Our own rider quickly exclaimed that
he had picked up some tips that should help as
he cleared his goggles and went back out for more
instruction.
