for ATV / UTV Service / Maintenance

& UTV / SxS Maintenance Key Items |

Service
manuals can make it much easier when servicing
your machine |
It is obvious that there will be some things you
will need to make the job of fixing and maintaining
your ATV/ SxS easier. The first and primary need
before anything else is a “Factory Authorized”
service manual. There is no excuse for any ATV/
SxS owner who has the mechanical ability to work
on his or her own ride to not have a service manual
for their machine. These manuals are not cheap and
I totally understand that but, if you go to the
dealer with a problem it will cost you in the very
least $50 dollars an hour.
Most service manuals can be purchased second
hand for around $35-$45 dollars and are in the
area of $69-$89 if purchased new. These off road
bibles can be found all over the internet and
the excuse of not having a computer doesn’t
really fly either because a good library card
will get you access to the internet on your states
behalf.

Information
like torque specs & wiring diagrams
are included in services manuals |
The information contained in the pages of a good
service manual will not only give you help on
servicing the ride but if you need parts most
have exploded views of the items so you can point
out what you may need. Other things you’ll
find helpful in the service manual are wiring
diagrams, nut and bolt torque specifications,
tool requirements and much more. I cannot stress
enough how important this manual will be.
ATV
& UTV / SxS Maintenance Helpful Hint:
|
If you are searching for a service manual do
not forget to look around websites/forums and
also Google search words will sometimes reveal
free PDF manuals if you look hard enough. I’m
not saying it will always come up but I have found
free service manuals about 50% of the time just
by a good search.
Other locations for downloadable service manuals
may charge a small fee but if you can get an $89
dollar service manual for ten and have it on your
computer anytime you need it then that has to
be a good thing. Look at websites such as Tradebit.com
and I’m pretty sure you’ll find what
you are looking for. Then you just print out the
pages you need and nothing gets greasy or damaged.
I hope this small article helps you find a simpler
way as well as a less expensive way to repair
your ride and even though its basic information
that most may already know its worth telling anyhow.
So good luck with your project and check back
for a series of How-to’s in the coming weeks.
