St. Cloud, MN (11/11/2009) -
On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Arctic Cat reached
a milestone with the in-house assembly of their
100,000 engine, which prompted a celebration at
the world’s most state-of-the-art engine building
facility in St.Cloud, Minnesota.
Arctic Cat originally utilized Suzuki engines
in all of their ATV & UTV products until October
of 2004 when they began production of their own
650cc engine at Thief River Falls, MN production
plant, and they quickly expanded their engine
production, which prompted the building of a new
61,000 sq ft facility in St. Cloud, MN.

engine configurations at the plant with
the 550, 650, 700 & 950cc engines |
In February of 2007, engine production began at Arctic
Cat’s brand new facility with a work force
of 40 employees, and today, this facility alone
is responsible for the assembly of the 550, 650,
700 H1, 950 H2 engines, which are utilized in all
of Arctic Cat’s big bore ATVs & UTVs.
With Arctic Cat producing their own engines and
not relying on an outside engine suppliers for
many of their models, they have been able to quickly
respond to changes in the market, which prompted
the production of the largest displacement utility
ATV with the release of the Thundercat 1000 H2,
which utilizes the 950cc engine assembled at the
St. Cloud plant. Also, this monstrous engine is
also available in Arctic Cat’s Prowler 1000
XTZ UTV, which was just released in 2009 as Arctic
Cat leads the charge for big bore engines.
