The events were held at the fast and tricky Unadilla
MX. Horsepower is king here, and Noah Mickelson
combined the horsepower on his Honda with excellent
grip provided by Maxxis RAZR Plus tires to snag
both holeshots and finish 2-2 in the motos. His
first overall win in the class came after coming
back from a serious shoulder injury sustained
earlier this season.

“I just tried to keep a steady pace and stay
comfortable,” said Noah Mickelson. “It was an
amazing feeling. It’s good coming back and knowing
what I can do. The injury didn’t affect me as
much as I thought it would. I can’t describe the
feeling I had up on the podium. We’re running
the RAZR Plus tires out there. They are amazing.
Without them, I wouldn’t have gotten both holeshots
and they grip amazingly in every corner.”
Some fraternal competition also helped. Both
Noah and Haedyn Mickelson battled it out in the
Pro Am motos. “Having my brother out there pushing
me really helped a lot,” said Noah Mickelson.
“My shoulder has some healing to do, but it doesn’t
really affect me when I’m riding. I have more
rehab to do, but I feel really good. I’ll be there
for the next two rounds to push my brother and
the rest of the field.”
Haedyn Mickelson was running second in the first
moto when a mechanical issue slowed his charge.
After finishing the moto, the team jumped into
action and he came back to win the second moto
after a thrilling battle with his brother. The
third-place overall has him holding a five point
lead in the points championship.

“I saw Noah make the pass for the lead and that’s
where I put my head down because I wanted to be
up there, too,” said Haedyn Mickelson. “It came
down to the last lap, I passed him and won the
moto. That’s a two-point swing. I’m still in the
lead, but it will come down to the wire.”
Along with his Pro Am results, Haedyn Mickelson
also finished eighth in the Pro race. He is now
a top contender for the Rookie of the Year award,
sitting ninth in points.
“Coming into the beginning of the year, my goal
was to finish in the top 10 in points,” said Haedyn
Mickelson. “To be sitting in the top 10 with four
motos left I’m happy with it. Getting that rookie
of the year is going to be a big deal.”
The Haedyn and Noah Mickelson will be back in
action as the Rockford Fosgate/TiLube/Honda Team
heads to RedBud MX in Buchanan, MI July 21-22.
