The event was held on the motocross track,
desert and woods surrounding the facility.
Windy and dry weather caused Saturday’s Pro
Stock race to be hampered by dust. Hancock
knew track position was key, so he ran hard
at the start, took second and cruised in for
his first podium of the weekend behind winner
Beau Baron.
“Beau and I do lot of testing for Elka Suspension
together so it’s pretty cool to run with him,”
said Hancock. “Doug Roll helped us out with
the shocks and they worked so well that we
didn’t have to worry about hitting stuff in
the dust. The track did get pretty rough,
so getting the power to the ground is key,
especially in the stock class.”
While Sunday’s event was relatively dust
free, starting position was still important.
Hancock nabbed the holeshot from the second
row in his KraftWerk Supercharged Polaris
RZR. He ran a consistent race from there.
“The combination of Sparks Power, the KraftWerks
Supercharger and Maxxis Tires is unbeatable,”
said Hancock. “These Elka shocks were so dialed
in that I was just pinning it in the some
of the dust. The car worked flawlessly, the
track was fun and once I got into the groove
it was blast.”
Hancock now heads into the summer break carrying
some momentum. With the issues he experienced
early this year behind him, he’s ready to
work hard during the off time and get ready
for the end of the season.
“I had a rough start to the year, so I’m
hoping to come on strong to the end of the
year,” said Hancock. “We’re preparing for
a strong push.”
Hancock will return to the WORCS Series when
it stages its first race after the summer
break September 14-16 at Glen Helen Raceway
in Devore, CA.
