Matt Hancock Finishes Strong at WORCS Opener
WORCS Racing Round One Pro UTV Race Report

Tempe, AZ (2/13/2018) - Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock started out the WORCS Series season with consistent finishes in the Pro SXS classes. The season opening event was held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

The races were held in and around the arena on the dirt surfaces inside and in the parking lots, as well as asphalt sections. The track also featured big air jumps inside the arena, as well as logs and tire jumps.

While the results don’t necessarily show it on paper, Hancock had speed and longevity in the SXS Pro and Pro Stock races. His best finish was seventh in Pro Stock.

“I felt really competitive today,” said Hancock. “Sparks Performance Products and Curtis Sparks have my clutches really dialed in during the Pro Stock race. The stock car ripped and I had a blast.”

Hancock’s Polaris RZRs had different looks to start out the season. With the wrap going from red to blue, Hancock put in the effort, didn’t break and will be ready when the series heads to more traditional venues.

“We changed from red to blue; it’s something different and I like it,” said Hancock. “I didn’t have quite the weekend I wanted, but I didn’t break and I didn’t have problems. So onto the next one and we’ll go make some stuff happen.”

With both dirt and asphalt racing surfaces, getting traction was an issue for many competitors. Hancock said his Maxxis Big Horn 2.0 tires were up to the challenge and he had great traction everywhere, especially on the pavement.

“The Maxxis tires were hooking up great on the pavement,” said Hancock. “These aren’t pavement tires, but they were working great. The Maxxis Big Horn 2.0s are really the best all-around tire out there. I just kept the same setup with my Elka Suspension and I was able to rip around the corners. It was super dialed. I just wasn’t as comfortable on the pavement as I am on dirt. We wanted to get through this race and I did that.”

Hancock is looking forward to getting back into the dirt and into his element as the series next heads to Canyon MX in Peoria, AZ. That race is scheduled for February 23-25.
