Deforest, WI (5/23/2018) – Kyler
Lenz Motorsports/Amped Apparel Honda rider Korie
Richmond won the Open B class race during the
AMA ATV Motocross National Championship race at
High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA. Pro rider
Sam Rowe finished 10th overall. Nick Moser was
involved in a crash in the first 25+ moto and
sat out the second race, but still holds a commanding
lead in the points chase.
Richmond, who also finished second overall in
Production B, had two impressive runs in Open
B. He took the holeshot in the first moto and
led every lap and then finished second in moto
two. Richmond enjoyed High Point’s hard packed
surface and picturesque location on the side of
a mountain.
“The track is one of my favorites because it
reminds me of home,” said Richmond. “It’s hard
packed with lots of blue groove and it has tons
of elevation change. The setup was great for the
mud and for the dry and the Maxxis Tires were
great. They had bite everywhere. The PEP suspension
worked great. Wayne has them set perfectly for
each race; we never had to touch them.”
Richmond left retirement to join Kyler Lenz Motorsports
this season. He said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity
to help honor Kyler and he has ridden exceptionally
well.
“It’s really exciting to be back racing, especially
in memory of Kyler,” said Richmond. “This was
an awesome opportunity for us and it’s great to
get it on the box for the team.”
Moser came into the race with four consecutive
victories in 25+, but unexpected issues kept him
from going for another win.
“We ran into some mechanical issues and we made
the decision to sit out the race,” said Moser.
“Kevin and I agreed it wasn’t safe and we made
the right decision. We’ve had such a great season
already with four wins. We’re going to regroup
after this race. Mark Baldwin will go over the
bike and we’ll come out swinging at Muddy Creek.”
Moser looks forward to the next race at Muddy
Creek. He has a storied past with the Tennessee
track that includes his first Pro Am victory.
“I’ve been going there for years since I was
kid and actually ran my second national there,”
said Moser. “I have a long history there, and
I’m excited about the next race.”
Rowe went 9-11 in the Pro motos to finish 10th
overall. He was running in the top five in the
second moto when another freak mechanical issue
took him out of contention.
“In the first moto, I got a decent start and
ended up in a pileup in the second corner,” said
Rowe. “I came out dead last and worked my way
up through the pack to finish ninth. In the second
moto, I was running fifth and my nerf bar fell
off. It was another bad luck race, but I was on
the verge of a top five. I have the speed and
I know our luck has to turn around soon.”
Kyler Lenz Motorsports heads next to Muddy Creek
Raceway in Blountville, TN. That race is scheduled
for June 2-3.
