Coker GNCC UXC1 UTV Race Report
Pataskala, OH (4/27/2018) -
Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/CT Raceworx driver Kyle
Chaney put together an excellent run from the
third row to win the UXC1 Pro Turbo race at the
Camp Coker Bullet GNCC in Society Hill, SC. After
bad luck in the first two rounds, Chaney now has
a legitimate shot at the GNCC championship.
Chaney started on the third row in the race on
the rough and dusty track. After working his way
through the difficult conditions, he capitalized
when the leader made a mistake, took the lead
and the eventual victory.
“That track just got brutal,” said Chaney. “This
course was one of the roughest I’ve every raced.
It had some big mud holes and it was super dusty.
I was coming from the third row and passing all
the UXC1 guys was pretty tough. We had to eat
a lot of dust and sand to be right up on him ready
to capitalize on a mistake. I did take some risk,
but today the reward was more valuable.”
Chaney had fluke issues take him out of contention
in the first two races. He was glad to finally
put that bad luck behind him and capitalize on
his team’s hard work in getting his new Can-Am
Maverick X3 race ready.
“This is a brand new Can-Am Maverick X3 and the
car works awesome,” said Chaney. “The Fox shocks
did great and Maxxis tires with Tire Balls got
us through. I’ve known all year that our team
deserved to put this Can-Am in the middle of the
box and we made it. We are coming from the lowest
of lows. We haven’t finished a race this season,
so it’s been pretty depressing. You can’t let
that get you down and a true racer pushes through
it.”
And push through he did. Along with co-pilot
Landon Wolfe, Chaney knew he had the right car
to win, he just had to get through the adversity,
and look toward the overall goal: the 2018 GNCC
Championship. Though he’s seventh in points, the
series still has three races to go, and Chaney
has been successful on all of them.
“I knew we get back here, and I’m still hopeful
for a championship,” said Chaney. “These next
three races are all close to home. If I can stay
up here for the next three rounds, I can battle
for the title.”
Chaney will return to GNCC competition when the
series holds its next UTV race, May 26-27 at the
John Penton at Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield,
OH.
