Bad Luck Stops Kyle Chaney’s
Florida GNCC Run
Kyle Chaney's Wild
Boar GNCC UXC1 UTV Race Report
Pataskala, OH (03/15/2018) -
Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/CT Raceworx driver Kyle
Chaney overcame early contact with a tree to take
a dominant lead during the second round of GNCC
competition at the Wild Boar in Palatka, FL. A
technical issue on the car, however, took him
out of contention after two laps of the XC1 Pro
UTV race.
Chaney started on the second row and bicycled
into a tree going into the woods. After restarting
at the back of the field, Chaney flew through
the pack in his Can-Am Maverick X3, passing nearly
every competitor before taking the lead. He began
checking out when his car shut off and he couldn’t
get it restarted.
“I took the lead going into the mud hole and
checked out a little bit,” said Chaney. “That’s
what I like to do: get out front early and cruise
the rest of the race. Everything was going my
way, but the car just shut off. It’s a weird issue
and something we’ve never before encountered.”
The Hogwaller track was rough and rutted, but
dust was kept to a minimum. Despite the difficulty
of the course, Chaney’s X3 took everything in
stride. His drive to the front was exceptional.
“The track was really good,” said Chaney. “There
were some spots that were a little dusty, but
for the most part visibility was good. The track
got super rough and rutted and that was really
good for my X3. There were some deep mud holes
and some fast track areas, and my car was running
really well.”
Though dejected at the slow start to the season,
Chaney will go back to the shop, work on the car
and get everything dialed in. He expects his luck
to change as the series heads to the next UTV
round in late April.
“We’ll figure out what’s going on and hopefully
our luck will turn around,” said Chaney. “That’s
two races so far with bad luck, so hopefully we
can work out the kinks.”
Chaney will return to GNCC competition when the
series heads to Camp Coker Bullet at Moree’s Sportsman’s
Preserve in Society Hill, SC. That race is scheduled
for April 21-22.
