Kyle Chaney Debuts Can-AM X3
Turbo in GNCC Opener

Buck GNCC UXC1 UTV Race Report
Pataskala, OH (02/27/2018) -
Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/CT Raceworx driver Kyle
Chaney debuted his new Can-Am X3 Turbo in SXS
XC1 Pro GNCC competition during the Big Buck GNCC
in Union City, SC. Chaney was running what was
easily a podium pace when contact with a lapped
car ended his day early.
The race-ready Can-Am X3 has significantly more
horsepower and better handling than last year’s
car and Chaney caught the back end of the amateur
classes before some of those racers had even started.
He said the lower lap times have made it difficult
for both classes to share a racetrack.
“We’re getting to the point where we can’t race
with the amateurs,” said Chaney. “It’s not fair
for them or for us. We’re not having a good clean
race, and they’re having to watch their backs
all race. We had a problem on lap four when we
got into a lapper. I gave him a couple of taps,
and it created a suspension issues.”
Chaney is excited to be able to compete in the
X3 in GNCC, something that was made possible just
this year. He’ll now be able to race the same
car in every series in which he competes. The
ride is now working on a triple crown, racing
in desert, short course and now in cross country
competition.
“The X3 platform is definitely designed for racing,”
said Chaney. “It’s faster and it handles better.
The speed we can get in these things in large
part comes from the handling. My car was definitely
a podium contending car today, but I got a little
antsy, got into a lapper, and it ended in a DNF.
That’s the first-round blues, but we will be back.”
Chaney ran Maxxis Big Horn 3.0 tires in the event
and they remained a solid performer. His Fox Shocks
were dialed in for the event.
“The Maxxis tires worked really well,” said Chaney.
“We’re going to do some tire testing down in Florida
to determine what size and tread pattern we want
to use for Wild Boar. Fox does a great job and
had my shocks working really well.”
Chaney is planning full seasons in both TORC
and GNCC this year, as well as running the Heartland
Challenge and select IXCR events. Next up is the
Wild Boar GNCC being held at Hogwaller in Palatka,
FL March 10-11.
