Hunter Miller Takes Fourth
Staight GNCC Pro Podium
Hunter Miller's John
Penton GNCC Pro UTV Race Report
Greenville, TX (6/2/2018) –
Hunter Miller drove his Can-Am Maverick to a second-place
finish in the UXC1 Pro Turbo UTV class at the
John Penton GNCC at Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield,
OH. In the process, Miller extended his lead in
the championship to 17 points with his fourth
consecutive podium finish.
Like many other drivers, Miller changed his strategy
when it rained just prior to the start of the
UTV race. He took second at the start, and used
the superior grip of his Maxxis tires to negotiate
the slick conditions. After falling back to fourth
on the second lap, he recovered to challenge for
the lead until the final lap.
“The Maxxis Tires were better than everyone else’s
stuff,” said Miller. “They were hooking up and
that was a big part of Kyle Chaney and my results.
The Can-Am X3, with the way it puts power to the
ground, and the Maxxis Tires are a great combination.
We had a lot more traction than anyone else.”
Miller had hoped to possibly contend for a win
here. After the rain, tough, he fell back to run
consistent times and stay on the podium. Though
he hasn’t won a race yet this season, his consistency
is unmatched.
“I came into this weekend thinking the track
was a lot like home,” said Miller. “I planned
to come out hard and go for the win. Then the
rain hit, and I changed my plans. It’s all about
staying consistent now. As long as I’m on the
podium in the last two rounds, we should be in
good shape. If I get a win, that’s great, but
right now it’s all about the championship.”
A big part of that consistency has come from
testing and tuning his Elka shocks. With the assistance
of George White, Miller has had his handling dialed
in at every race this season.
“George White and I did a good bit of testing
and that made a big difference,” said Miller.
“George and Elka shocks have been a huge part
of our consistency this season. Every race, the
car gets better and better.”
GNCC now heads into its summer break. Miller
will take that time to strip down his Can-Am and
get it ready for the last two races.
“We have the long summer break and I’m going
to take my time to completely rebuild this car,”
said Miller. “I’m going to get everything prepped
and ready for those last two rounds.”
Miller will return to the GNCC Series when it
runs its next UTV race at Powerline Park in St.
Clairsville, OH. That race is scheduled for October
13-14.
