Hunter Miller's Wild
Boar GNCC Pro UTV Race Report
Greenville, TX (03/15/2018) –
Can Am/Maxxis/Elka’s Hunter Miller drove his Can-Am
Maverick X3 to a third-place finish in the Wild
Boar GNCC race in Palatka, FL. Miller was competing
in the XC1 Pro Turbo UTV class.
Miller had a great start from the front row,
and navigated the deeply rutted and challenging
course. He caught the leader, his brother Cody,
and actually physically took the lead briefly
on the final lap before settling back and finishing
third.
“That was the toughest GNCC I’ve done,” explained
Miller. “There were a lot of bottlenecks and getting
around that track cleanly was a feat in itself.
I actually made a pass on Cody on the last lap,
but my belt was getting hot and he had a 30-second
advantage, so I backed off and let him back by.”
Miller was driving his trusty Can-Am Maverick
X3 and it held strong to the very end.
“I drove the crap out of that thing and I never
had a single problem,” said Miller. “Usually you
have to hold back on a course like that, but we
were able to drive it hard and had no issues.”
Knowing that a busy racecourse and a soft sandy
racing surface results in ruts, Miller elected
to run a taller Maxxis Tire. It was the right
choice. “We ran a taller tire because we knew
it was going to be pretty rutted out,” said Miller.
“The tires worked great and they performed perfectly
everywhere.”
Miller’s second-straight third-place finish places
him into a three way tie for the points lead.
“I’m in a really good position in points because
it’s going to be close this year,” said Miller.
“I’m hoping to get a couple of wins, but goal
is to be up front on the podium at every race.
That should put me right there at the end.”
Miller will return to the GNCC Series when it
runs its next UTV race at Camp Coker Bullet in
South Carolina. That event is scheduled for April
21-22.
