Erin Simmons returned to competition after spending much of last season recovering from a broken femur. He ran the final stint on what was like the roughest part of the race. Drew Simmons started the race. Erin Simmons said it felt good to be back on the quad.

“It doesn’t even feel like I was off for the four and half months I was recuperating,” said Simmons. “Unfortunately, we ran a little too small of a tire and it got pretty rough on the last lap. The bike ran well with the Duncan engine and the Elka Suspension. We got around Q2 while they were in the pits, and I was able to maintain during the end of the race and finish third. We’re really excited to finish on the podium.”

While he’s familiar with desert racing and BITD competition, Sloan made his Parker 250 debut here. He was second on the Duncan Honda and spent much of his stint in the roost of another competitor. Quick pit work on their final pit stop moved them up one position and guaranteed the podium.

“This was my first time racing the Parker 250, so it was a different experience,” said Sloan. “I got stuck behind the utility quad and there was no way I could see anything. I kept it close and eventually we beat him out of the pits to get the podium. It was really dusty, but I got through it and we finished third.”

Despite the dusty and rough conditions, Sloan put in a solid drive to nab the podium. Sloan appreciates the support the team receives from Duncan Racing. “It’s pretty cool being with Duncan,” said Sloan. “Their support is how we stay competitive.”

Drew and Erin Simmons, as well as Sloan will be back in action when the ATVs return to action during the UTV World Championship in Laughlin, NV. That race is scheduled for April 6-7, 2018.
