CST Team Scores Three Podiums at
Sand Hollow WORCS
Atascadero, CA (5/2/2018) - CST’s
Beau Baron won the Pro ATV race, finished second
in the Pro Stock SXS race, and held onto fourth
in points with a seventh-place effort in Pro SXS
during the WORCS Racing weekend at Sand Hollow
State Park in Hurricane, UT. Baron’s teammate
Mitch Anderson padded his points lead in Pro 2
Motorcycle competition after finishing third.
In the ATV race, superior pit work put Baron
in the lead at the race’s halfway point. The rough
course took its toll, but once out front Baron
dominated. His second victory this season puts
him second in the title chase, just a single point
out of the lead.
“I’m just so pumped right now to get a win here,”
said Baron. “This place scares the hell out of
me, but I knew I needed to do it to get some points.
A big hat is off for Sparks for building me such
a great motor. CST and Tire Blocks combined to
make sure I didn’t get any flats. Doug Roll at
Elka is doing all of my shocks and valving and
he did a great job on the suspension.”
In the Pro Stock SXS race, officials changed
the track to include more racing lines. Baron
took full advantage in his Polaris, and charged
his way to second. It marked his third consecutive
podium and allowed him to extend his lead to 11
points in the championship chase.
“Today I was able to pull off a second and I’m
pumped on it,” said Baron. “It was just a really
good day. This gave me a few more points and that’s
what you need in the SXS classes because you never
know when you’re going to throw a round.”
In Pro SXS, Baron got stuck behind a bottleneck
on the first lap. After slamming on his brakes,
his car suffered a fluke electronic problem. After
getting it moving, Baron did what he could and
got a finish. He now sits fourth in points, but
with a legitimate chance at the title with six
races left.
“I jammed on my brakes and when I did something
happened to my car,” said Baron. “When we took
off, the car went into limp mode. I tried to reset
it, and it didn’t do anything. As soon as I started
going down a hill the thing took off again. We
did the best we could and got a finish.”
Anderson fought his way through the rough conditions
to finish third in the Pro 2 Motorcycle race.
Anderson has finished on the podium in all four
races this season and leads the title chase by
11 points. Anderson’s CST tires helped him negotiate
the difficult and rough racing conditions.
“The sand and rock is a pretty unique combination
and the CST Tires were great all weekend,” said
Anderson. “They held up great through practice,
qualifying and the race. We had some good battles
and everyone was riding well.”
Baron and Anderson will return to WORCS competition
when the series heads to Iron Mine Race Park in
Cedar City, UT May 25-27.
