CST’s Beau Baron Takes WORCS Pro
Stock SXS Win
Atascadero, CA (3/21/2018) - CST’s
Beau Baron won the SXS Pro Stock race during the
WORCS racing weekend at Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Baron also competed in the SXS Pro Turbo and Pro
ATV races.
Lake Havasu’s traditionally rough track took
its toll among the competitors. The tight and
rocky course had few passing opportunities, so
Baron made quick work getting to the front in
the Pro Stock race. Once there, he held strong
to score the victory and take the points lead.
“I got a second-place start behind Matt Hancock
and there was a rhythm section along the back
straightaway,” said Baron. “We came into that
last one, he checked up and I never lifted so
I launched half a car length in front of him and
took off in the lead.”
Dealing with the loose and sandy surface is always
difficult. To ensure maximum grip, Baron selected
CST’s Stag tires. His launch into the lead demonstrated
just how well they hooked up.
“I used the CST Stag with more tread spacing
for the sand,” said Baron. “They made a huge difference.
These Stags worked awesome and I’m going to use
them in Sand Hollow.”
In the Pro SXS race, Baron had bad luck early.
After pitting for mechanical issues on the first
lap, he immediately began gaining ground, but
a driveline issue took him out of contention on
the final lap. He recovered to finish seventh
and save important championship points.
Bad luck also struck in the Pro ATV race. Baron
took the lead, but a rock wedged into the sprocket
on his Honda and the chain slipped off. He spent
most of the race repairing his ride, and finished
fifth.
Baron hasn’t had the best of luck in the past
at Lake Havasu and he looks to step it up when
the series heads to Utah in April. Ever the competitor,
Baron is healthy and ready to bounce back.
“It was a rough weekend,” explained Baron. “I
had issues in the turbo class, but I did get a
finish. My quad weekend was tough, too. I guess
it’s OK. I came away healthy. I’ll have to step
it up at Sand Hollow because I don’t want these
kids to get away from me.”
Baron will return to WORCS competition when the
series heads to Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane,
UT April 27-29.
