Luburgh Returns Bikeman Performance to the Podium
Midwest Short Course • Rounds 3 & 4 • ERX • Pro UTV Race Report

Saint Croix Falls, WI (7/18/2018) – Bikeman Performance driver Jason Luburgh put bad luck behind him and scored a podium during the Midwest Short Course League SXS Pro Modified event at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, MN. Teammate Colten Moore had issues in qualifying, but put together two solid runs in the Pro Stock class. Both are racing Polaris RZRs.

After qualifying third for Friday’s race Luburgh started on the second row due to the invert. After several cautions during the early laps, Luburgh took third and held it until the finish.

“I started third and that was the perfect spot,” said Luburgh. “We had a lot of cautions and restarts, which was frustrating, but all in all it was a good race. We really needed this. It helped get our morale back up and we’re starting to have fun again. This was long overdue.”

Slick conditions in qualifying led to a dry and tacky track during the race. Luburgh appreciated the predictability of his GBC Tires during the sessions. He also worked with Fox engineers at the track to get his shocks dialed in perfectly.

“The GBC Terra Masters are great,” said Luburgh. “They work great in all conditions and they’re really predictable. Fox worked with me this weekend to get it dialed in. Any little feedback I give them, they make little changes. The important thing is the FOX people are at every race and are ready to support us.”

The cautions and restarts made communication critical for Luburgh. He used his Rugged Radios to ensure clear transmissions with his spotter.

“With all of the restarts, communication with my spotter was key and the Rugged Radios worked flawlessly,” said Luburgh. “I could hear Jimmy and race control perfectly. Nothing ruins a race faster than bad communication, so having the Rugged Radios is a big part of our success.”

Despite issues in qualifying, Moore persevered and ran competitive laps. He likely passed more cars in his races than any other single competitor in his Bikeman/Quad Logic/Kicker Polaris RZR.

“The weekend was fun, but it didn’t go as planned,” explained Moore. “I can make my way through the pack really well, but it becomes an issue of time when you start in the back. The track was fun and the car was good, so I was passing people left and right.”

Bikeman Performance will be ready to build on its recent success when the Midwest Short Course League heads to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for its next race, being held at Bark River International Raceway. That event is scheduled for August 10-12.
