Moreno Valley, CA (2/20/2018) –
BDR Motorsports' Larry Heidler unveiled a
new Polaris RZR and finished 11th in the Pro
SXS race during the WORCS season opener at
The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. With new backing
from Polaris, Heidler is running his second
full season in WORCS after a competitive rookie
campaign in 2017.
Heidler actually nearly missed the opener
when an unexpected illness landed his wife
in the hospital. Despite no testing time,
the new RZR XP Turbo was competitive right
from the start
“I didn’t have a lot of time to set up for
the track and only showed up 20 minutes before
the Unclassified race,” said Heidler. “It
was kind of a down weekend because my wife
wasn’t with me. It definitely took its toll
mentally.”
The course was set up in the arena and the
parking lots surrounding the facility. With
a mix of dirt and asphalt racing surfaces,
as well as jumps, logs and tire sections,
the track was tight and challenging. With
a new set of Fox Shocks and GBC Tires, Heidler
said he felt comfortable in the car.
“I went with the new GBC Terra Masters for
the first round and they hooked up good in
the asphalt and it pulled hard in the dirt,”
said Heidler. “That will be a good tire for
this year. Fox sent me a brand new set of
shocks and they were set up perfectly for
the course.”
For the first time in his career, Heidler
is starting out the season with a brand new
car, “Polaris support has been a huge help
for my program,” said Heidler. “I got a 2018
Polaris RZR XP Turbo just before Thanksgiving
and we worked hard to get it ready for the
first round. The car turned out great. Mark
Holz is one of the best in the business. I’m
running running Holz A-arms, trailing arms,
swaybars and radius rods and we had no problems.
I feel a lot more comfortable in my car.”
Heidler next heads for a more traditional
WORCS venue in Peoria, AZ. The race will combine
desert and motocross style racing. Heidler
is looking forward to showing his new car’s
competitiveness.
“This will be my first visit to the track,”
said Heidler. “We’ll show up, get the car
set up and let the race come to us. It will
be nice to get back out into the desert and
show what this Polaris is really capable of.
I couldn’t be happier with how my car is set
up right now.”
The next round of WORCS competition is scheduled
for February 23-25 at Canyon MX in Peoria,
AZ.
