Moreno Valley, CA (6/2/2018) –
BDR Motorsports / Polaris’ Larry Heidler finished
third in the UTV Straight Line Rhythm Race
at So Cal Fairgrounds in Perris, CA. Heidler
was driving his Polaris RZR in the special
event.
The race was setup as a special head-to-head
UTV race through 400 feet of extreme technical
rhythm and jump sections. It featured rhythm,
step-ups, jumps and whoops. Interestingly,
Heidler had just returned from the WORCS race
in Cedar City, UT and hadn’t planned to compete.
After making a last-minute decision, he decided
to race.
“I was actually going to just go watch it,
but I decided to race just an hour before
the start,” said Heidler. “I drove right to
the starting line. It was a cool event. It’s
pretty exciting to finish third. I put down
a pretty fast time on my last run and that
put me ahead. The GBC tires hooked up so great
at the start. My car really excelled in the
rhythm section.”
Heidler said his Polaris RZR made the difference
for him. He literally did nothing to the car
after running the WORCS race, except for putting
gas in it. It worked flawlessly on the tough
course.
“I couldn’t have asked for more from my car,”
said Heidler. “I just threw five gallons of
gas in the car and knocked off the mud from
Cedar City. We ran it hard in a one-hour race
in Utah, rolled it into the trailer and then
ran it here.”
This wasn’t an easy course. With some of
the toughest rhythm and whoops sections he’s
seen, Heidler ran his Polaris hard.
“I beat my car to death to try to stay on
the power,” said Heidler. “My Fox shocks were
perfect. I really put the Super ATV axles
to the test. They are, by far, the strongest
axles I’ve every used. The Raceline wheels
held up great. We literally had zero problems
with our car.”
Heidler joined a bevy of other RZRs that
finished on the podium for the event. It says
a lot for UTV racing’s most resilient car.
“Every car on the top step of the podiums
was a Polaris,” said Heidler. “There’s a reason
for that. Polaris builds the best car out
there.”
With the WORCS summer break underway, Heidler
will have a long break before the next race
during which he will work on his car and get
ready to finish out the season. The next WORCS
race is scheduled for September 14-16 at Glen
Helen Raceway in Devore, CA.
