Pataskala, OH (10/30/2017) -
Can-Am/XPS Lubricants/CT Raceworx driver Kyle
Chaney finished out the 2017 GNCC season with
a second-place finish at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville,
OH. The runner-up finish places him third in the
XC1 Pro UTV final points, despite missing one
round of competition.

Can-Am's
Kyle Chaney & Treavis Poynter secured
a 2nd place finish at the Ironman GNCC Season
Finale with Chaney clinching third in the
XC1 Pro UTV Points Championship |
Chaney battled with eventual winner Cody Miller
nearly the entire race, and led the race at one
point. With co-driver Treavis Poynter, Chaney
came into the final round with a win at all costs
attitude.
“My Can-Am Maverick worked really well today,”
said Chaney. “We caught back up to Cody in the
woods and we had some really good battles going.
Cody and I battled all day, but he got past some
lappers and gapped me a little bit. I was hoping
to stay on him until the last lap because I had
a place to pass him.”
Chaney gave credit to CT Raceworx and Maxxis
Tires for their tireless support this season.
CT Raceworx built his Can-Am Maverick, while Maxxis
gave him the competitive edge on the challenging
courses this season.

Maxxis'
Kyle Chaney charged his way into the lead
at one point during the race, but he settled
into the second spot on the final lap |
“All three of the podium finishers were running
Maxxis Tires so that says something,” said Chaney.
“I can’t say enough good things about Maxxis.
My CT Raceworx built Can-Am is a fine car and
will make a great ride next year for someone else
in GNCC.”
Chaney missed round 12 due to conflict with the
TORC Series, where he won the Pro Turbo championship.
Despite missing that round, he still finished
third in the GNCC title chase on the merit of
two victories and two additional podiums. He hopes
TORC and GNCC can coordinate their schedules next
season to allow him to run for both championships.
“We missed a round for TORC, so I’m definitely
happy with third,” said Chaney. “We knew we were
just so close in TORC that we had to pick between
TORC and GNCC. I already have two GNCC titles,
so Can-Am and I decided to forgo the GNCC title
to go after TORC. Hopefully, next year they get
their schedules put together so we don’t have
to miss any rounds.”

Kyle
Chaney is looking forward to making the
switch to the Can-Am Maverick X3 for the
2018 GNCC Racing season |
GNCC rules will allow turbocharged cars to compete
in XC1 Pro next season. Chaney will campaign Can-Am’s
race-ready X3 in hopes of earning a third GNCC
title in 2018.
“This will be the last race on these old Mavericks,”
said Chaney. “We’ll be in the X3 next year. The
X3 is a race car and will really level the playing
field with some of the other manufacturers.”
Chaney will be racing Can-Am X3 Maverick Turbo’s
in both the TORC and GNCC Series in 2018.
