Jarrod McClure Takes Second at Ironman GNCC

Race Report

Jarrod McClure earned his fourth second place overall
finish this past weekend at the Ironman GNCC in
Crawfordsville Indiana. McClure led a majority of
the two hour race, but after a last lap battle with
Walker Fowler he had to settle for second place
for the day only one second behind him. JMR teammate
Randy Hamilton put in a top ten ride finishing ninth
place at the final round of the season.

The Ironman GNCC is always the last stop of the
GNCC series in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The facility
brings to the table everything a GNCC track could
offer, steep hills, creek crossings, tight woods,
and open fields. Despite some cold temperatures,
the track conditions were near perfect for the
day as racers headed to the start to let it all
hang out at the last race of the season.
DWT’s McClure pulled a great start coming off
the line in third place but quickly made his way
into second behind Walker Fowler as racers hit
the MX track. Jarrod and Walker swapped positions
a few times on the first lap and even put a nice
gap between themselves and the rest of the field,
until Jarrod made a mistake, which pushed him
back to third.

“I think I finally got my starts figured out.
It was nice heading into the woods behind Walker,
I was ready for an all out battle and Walker was
riding really smooth. I made a mistake on the
second lap and it allowed him and Adam Mcgill
to put some time on me, but I put my head down
and was able to catch them”, said McClure.
McClure was able to take back the lead on the
third lap and maintained it until the final miles
of the race, where Fowler made the pass on him
in one of the split line sections to take the
lead. Jarrod kept pressure on him until they crossed
the finish line only one second apart.
“It was really an awesome race out there I think
the three of us out front all had some little
bobbles, and in the end I am very bummed to not
get the win. I took the line I thought was faster
but apparently it wasn’t. This one definitely
stings more than any because it also cost me a
spot in the championship points”, said McClure.
JMR’s XC1 Pro racer Randy Hamilton started his
day around ninth position, where he rode the majority
of the race and ended up finishing in the class
for the day.
Final results on the season are Jarrod McClure
finishing third overall in the XC1 points and
Randy Hamilton finishing twentieth in the XC1
overall points. JMR would like to thank all our
