RRR’s Josh Upperman Fourth at Ironman MX
Root River Racing’s Pro Ironman ATV MX Race Report

La Crosse, WI (5/10/2016) - Root River Racing’s Pro rider Josh Upperman competed at round four of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, IN. Upperman took his season best finish with fourth overall.

Upperman was excited about the opportunity to race at Ironman MX. “I was excited about it because it is a really cool track. It is a true motocross track, and I just felt privileged to be able to come out and ride this track.”

The first moto was wet and sloppy, but it was no match for Upperman aboard his Root River Honda with Hoosier tires finding all the traction. “We got a little rain and had to put big tires on. I got second out of the holeshot, and only lost one position to Joel Hetrick to end up third. The bike was working awesome.”

Upperman put in another strong ride in the second moto to secure himself fourth place overall. “We got a decent start, third or fourth off the line. I made a couple mistakes and ended up fifth, but with my 3-5 motos it gave me fourth overall. We are definitely moving forward.”

Upperman gave credit to his great sponsors for his success, saying, “The bike was working awesome thanks to Motowox shocks, and the bike was hooking up like no other thanks to Hoosier tires. I am happy with how the weekend went and am looking forward to High Point.”

With continued improvement each weekend, Upperman feels he is heading in the right direction and will be on the podium soon.  “We definitely have something going for us right now. I am really happy. It has been a lot of hard work going back and forth and changing things here and there to get something I am comfortable with. I could not be any happier with how things went. I am looking forward to High Point and to get on the box there.”

Upperman will compete at round five of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA May 21-22 where he will be going for a podium finish.
