Matt Hancock Takes Two Podiums at Iron Mine WORCS
WORCS Racing - Round Eight - Iron Mine Race Report

Tempe, AZ (6/1/2016) - Pro Motorsports racer’s Matthew and Jeff Hancock each charged hard during the WORCS SXS and ATV Races at Iron Mine Race Park. Matthew Hancock continued his strong rookie season, equaling his best WORCS Pro SXS finish of second in the Pro race, and he finished third in SXS Pro Unlimited. Matthew and Jeff finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the Pro ATV race.

In the SXS Pro race, Matthew Hancock battled for his runner-up finish. He now sits second in points going into the summer break, just three points out of the lead.

“Two podiums in a row…wow,” said Hancock. “The only real seat time I’ve been getting is at the races. Practice went well and my setup was good. The Walker Evans shocks were great. The Maxxis Tires and the Tire Blocks are a great combination, as are Method Wheels and Polaris. We run the best stuff and these companies keep us out here.

“I’m second in points, but it’s close and it’s going to come down to the last two races,” added Hancock. “The championship is in my sights, and I have to drive like that for the last two races.”

In Pro Unlimited, Matthew Hancock recorded his second podium of the weekend, driving his two-year-old naturally aspirated Polaris RZR to third in a field usually dominated by turbocharged machines.

“My Sparks motor helped me take off well ahead of all of those turbos,” said Hancock. “We’ve been working on the shocks with Doug Roll and Elka Suspension and we’re really getting their stuff dialed in. My car is just working great and I can’t ask for more out of it. I’m finally getting comfortable and confident in these cars. This engine and car probably have 50 race hours on them, and it’s out racing the turbos.”

“The first lap out it was really dusty in the desert section, and I was right behind my brother,” said Jeff Hancock. “I went around a little S-corner, hit a kicker wrong and just cart wheeled end over end. I had to go into the pits to get my clutch lever adjusted. After that I felt pretty good.”
