Peyton Zimmerman Second at Ironman MX
Peyton Zimmerman ATV Motocross Race Report

Lititz, PA (5/10/2016) - FTR’s Peyton Zimmerman fought through muddy track conditions for a second place finish in Schoolboy Sr. at the fourth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at Ironman MX in Crawfordsville, IN.

Due to the rainy conditions, Schoolboy Sr. was run as a one moto format after Sunday’s second moto was cancelled. “First moto I got about second or third off the start, and just battled with Troy Hill the whole race. I could not get around him. I was hoping we would have a second moto, so I could redeem myself and get the overall win, but mother-nature did not help me out there,” explained Zimmerman.

Zimmerman also competed in Youth All Star but fought mechanical issues that kept him from the finish he was hoping for. The first moto Zimmerman suffered a 16th place finish, but came back in moto two ready for redemption. “It was a mudder, but I pulled the holeshot. I was leading and I just spun out, lost the lead, and got second.” Zimmerman’s 16-2 moto finishes gave him eighth place overall.

Zimmerman came into the mud race prepared with a great setup. “There were puddles everywhere. We blocked the air filter off so no water got in, taped the bumper off so the radiator did not get clogged up with mud, and just hoped it would not blow up. I ran the same small Maxxis tires I would on a dry day. The pulled the holeshot so they worked great. The Suspension held up really good in the mud, the Elka’s are just awesome.”

Zimmerman is fired up and ready to get back to training so that he can redeem himself at the next round, which happens to be his home state race in Pennsylvania. “I wanted to be on top of the box, but High Point is coming up and I am looking forward to it. I am going to put in a lot of work and head over to Joel Hedrick’s a little bit and try to get my speed up,” stated Zimmerman.

The fifth round of the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship will be held May 21-22 at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA.
