Racing’s Jeffrey Rastrelli put in a strong ride
to finish fifth in round two of the 2016 AMA ATV
Motocross National Championship at Underground MX
in Kemp, TX.
Brutally rough track conditions for the first
moto, and slick, muddy conditions for the second
moto really put Rastrelli and his JB Racing/Root
River/Goldspeed/Baldwin powered Honda to the test.
Rastrelli, always striving for the podium, is
no where near content with his fifth place finish,
but most would consider his performance nothing
short of impressive.

“Moto one was a little tough for me. I came out
with not a bad start and battled with the front
guys. It was a really treacherous track today.
I haven’t rode on anything that gnarly in a while,
and I ended up sixth that moto. I wasn’t prepared
for those conditions, so I will have to go back
to Florida, and do some testing before the next
round.”
Despite the muddy and extremely slick track conditions
due to the rain on moto two, Rastrelli reported
his Goldspeed tires performed unbelievably well.
“They are the best tires I have ever ran,” said
Rastrelli. “Second moto I came out around mid
pack and moved up to fourth and just stayed there.
It was a mud race, so we just tried to stay consistent.”

Coming off of a spectacular performance at Daytona,
Rastrelli put his work in training at home, hoping
to have another similar day in Texas.
“After my Daytona showing, I know where I belong,
and this weekend I let myself down. I came into
to this round unprepared for the track conditions,
not blaming it on anyone but myself. We are going
to go home and turn it around, and come back to
the next round with a podium.”
The next round of the AMA ATV Motocross National
Championship heads to Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville,
TN April 23-24. Rastrelli plans to do more testing
in Florida and come back to regain his position
on the podium.
