HOLZ Racers Lead WORCS Points in Four Classes
Mickey Thomas, Codey Rowley, Danielle Weatherly, & Shelby Anderson Lead Points

Lynden, WA (3/25/2016) - A showdown of Holz-built Polaris RZRs is now in the works as WORCS Pro SxS racer Mickey Thomas and Beau Baron hold the top two spots in the class. Danielle Weatherly extends Women’s points lead with a win at Round Five, and Shelby Anderson remains undefeated in the SxS 1000 Stock class after five rounds of racing.

Beau Baron WORCS Racing
Although Beau Baron finished sixth in the SxS Pro class, it gave him a boost in the points chase & now sits second behind Holz teammate Mickey Thomas

Baron overcame being stuck behind a pileup and four-wheel drive problems to finish sixth in the Pro race. In the process, he moved to second in points just 12 points behind points leader, Mickey Thomas.

“I definitely had some ups and downs this weekend,” said Baron. “I was running second, but I got stock in a pileup with some lappers and I couldn’t get out of a rut. People were passing me left and right. Finally, I got going and started picking off people. I lost four-wheel drive and ended up flipping it on its side. I wasn’t happy with sixth initially, but coming back and looking at it, a lot of other guys had trouble. So I’m up to second in points now, which is a good place to be at this point in the season.”

Thomas was running second when a rock locked his steering and he tipped over. He rebounded to finish seventh. “On the last lap, a rock got stuck in my wheel,” said Thomas. “It locked my wheel all the way to the left, I climbed a hill and tipped on my side. I had to get out and flip the car back up to finish the race. It wasn’t a great day, but at least I held onto the points lead. I’ve had some really good luck this year. I had some bad luck here, but we’ll get them next time.”

Cody Rowley WORCS Racing
Cody Rowley finished third in the SxS Pro Stock Class

In SxS Pro Stock, Codey Rowley continued his run as the points leader by finishing third and recording his fourth consecutive podium.

“From the start I had a lot of work ahead of me and I finished on the podium,” said Rowley. “Bulloch gained on me a little, but I still have the points lead, which is nice.”

Shelby Anderson WORCS Racing
Shelby Anderson still remains undefeated in the SxS 1000 Stock class after 5 rounds

Shelby Anderson kept her winning streak alive in SxS 1000 Stock, winning both races of the doubleheader weekend. Anderson’s teammate Scott Yancey finished 12th in the first of the two races, but rebounded to finish second in the second race.

“I’ve got two wins this weekend and five in a row in my rookie year in SXS 1000 Stock; I couldn’t be happier right now,” said Anderson. “I’m stoked that Scott made it up on the podium with me. We just have such a great team. Holz makes the best products for the RZR, bar none. We’ve been with them for a long time and Mark is always there to help out. We couldn’t be part of a better company.”

Scott Yancey WORCS Racing
Scott Yancey finished second in the SxS 1000 Stock Class

Yancey’s finishes helped him retain second place in points, behind Anderson. “I flipped over twice in the first race and finished 12th, which was a big let down,” said Yancey. “The second race was completely different. I ran strong all race and ended up trying to chase down Shelby at the end. I would give 90% of my success to Shelby Anderson and Holz. Holz doesn’t just manufacture parts. The whole family races, so they know how build the best. All of the top drivers are driving Holz cars, so when I decided to run this year there was no question: it was going to be in a Holz car.”

Danielle Weatherly WORCS Racing
Danielle Weatherly earned yet another win at Lake Havasu WORCS

Danielle Weatherly continued her dominance in the Women’s Class, winning one race and finishing fifth in the other. “The track was really rough and that made me nervous,” said Weatherly. “I had to work for what I got this weekend. It was a tough race. Holz builds great parts, which was proven today. A lot of people were having trouble with their cars on this rough course, but I had zero issues.”

Holz racers will be back in contention as WORCS heads to Sand Hollow in Utah April 15-17.
