Podium finish at the Mint 400 |
Bischoff battled his way through the tough
race, run around Buffalo Bill’s Casino. The
track, known as one of the toughest in desert
off road racing, got rougher as the race went
on.
“The race went better than we expected,”
said Bischoff. “We flew through the first
lap. On lap two, we had a small fire while
we were refueling. The second lap was twice
as rough as the first. We changed tires and
I ran as hard as I could on the third lap.
This is our first podium, so I’m just proud
to get on the podium for Holz Racing.”
Bischoff’s podium comes 11 years after he
set out to become a desert racing. His story
is almost storybook in its telling.
“Back in 2005 I watched that movie ‘From
Dust to Glory’, and in 2010, I went out and
bought a RZR,” explained Bischoff. “Every
time I drove it, I wanted to be racing. So
I raced the Mint 400 in a homemade machine
three years ago and I only made it 35 miles.
So we hooked up with Holz and we’ve been competitive
ever since.”
Mark Holz was challenging at the front of
the field when the bracket that holds the
blue safety light broke and fell into the
engine compartment, which damaged the engine
and ended their race day from a fluke failure.
Holz racers will be ready for action as BITD
goes into Round 4 May 5-8 for the Laughlin
Desert Classic.
