In Round 1 in Florida, Cunningham finished
third and backed that up with a runner-up
effort in Round 2 in Georgia. He finished
eighth in Round 3 and won Round 4 at Big Buck.
Cunningham overcame an early crash and fuel
issues to net the runner-up finish in Round
5 at Camp Coker. The podium puts him in the
lead in the title chase by four points.
“The Goldspeed Tires were awesome today,”
said Cunningham. “The slick stuff, the sand,
they work wherever you put them. We got off
to a decent start, and I had my bumper mashed-in
in the second corner. I thought I had something
for the leader, but about a mile into the
last lap my fuel light came on so I backed
it down a little bit to get some points and
not run out of gas.”
Cunningham made the switch from the sport
quad class to the bigger and heavier Can-Am
4x4 quad at the start of the season. He brought
Goldspeed Tires with him.

“We heard really good stories about Goldspeed
so we started running their sport quad tire
last year,” said Cunningham. “They worked
really well, so we stuck with it in the 4x4
stuff and it’s working really well. They are
great anywhere you put them and they really
hook up at the start. It’s just an all around
good tire and that’s why we’re running it.
“We’re running the Gold Speed MXU tire,”
added Cunningham. “It’s new for them, and
we’ve helped them develop it. This tire works
extremely well pretty much everywhere. So
we’re planning to run this tire in all of
the races this season.”
Cunningham expected the move from a sport
quad to the much larger 4x4 quad to be difficult.
Fortunately, that move has been much easier
than he had planned. A point exemplified by
his results. He learned a lot in the first
round.
“The first round was going great, but I had
a hiccup on the last lap,” said Cunningham.
“I hit a root, bounced off a couple of trees
and bent the frame. It taught me how to respect
the speed and the pace in this class. Luckily
we have two bikes, so I kept my head down
and kept charging. It’s what we need to do
all year. I know we’ll have some issues, but
we need to keep moving.”
Cunningham will be back in action on his
Goldspeed Tires with the GNCC Series May 14-15
in the Limestone 100 at Lawrence County Recreational
Park in Springville, IN.
