La Crescent, MN (3/18/2015) - Root
River Racing’s Josh Upperman made his team debut
at the inaugural Fly Racing Daytona ATV Supercross.
Josh Upperman took on the rough track and made an
impressive charge from the back of the pack and
claimed a seventh place finish in the Pro ATV main
event.
It’s always a tough adjustment period for a racer
when they switch programs after spending several
years with the same set up, but Root River Racing’s
Josh Upperman is adjusting well and gave it all
he had at the Daytona ATV Supercross. “It’s really
great being on the Root River Racing team. They
have a lot of support and fans, and it feels awesome
to have that support,” said Upperman.

to the LCQ

Upperman encountered some issues in his heat
race after connecting with another rider that
sent him to the LCQ, but Upperman showed everyone
that he was ready to race and grabbed the LCQ
holeshot. Upperman immediately came under fire
from Chad Wienen, but Upperman was able to hold
him off for several laps with Upperman making
the main event with a second place finish in the
LCQ.

Making it to the Pro Main by going to the LCQ
gave Upperman one of the last gate picks, so he
didn’t get the start he was looking for. “I was
in about mid-pack off the start, and the guy in
front of me checked up on a double, and I went
off the track to avoid hitting him, and that put
me way in the back,” Upperman explained.
Despite the setback, Upperman made an impressive
charge and came from the back of the pack in fourteenth
place and picked off the competition until he
had reached the number seven spot. Upperman would
have kept his forward momentum going, but he ran
out of time before the checkered flag. “I gave
it my all out there. I came from the back of the
pack up to seventh. I wish I was on the podium,
but that’s not the way things happened. Even so,
this was still a cool event, and I am happy to
be a part of it,” said Upperman.

“I am really looking forward to Echeconnee. I
am ready! My Root River Racing quad is set up
really good, and I am really happy with my suspension
and engine, so I am expecting good results,” Upperman
added.
