Joel Hetrick had one of his best seasons in 2015 finishing second at Loretta Lynn's as well as finishing second in the Pro ATV Motocross Points Championship

The day began with Hetrick once again claiming the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award, for the ninth time out of ten total races. Hetrick backed up the fastest qualifier by launching out of the gate to claim the SSi Decals holeshot award in moto one. With a clear track in front of him, Hetrick’s blistering pace quickly gapped him out from the rest of the competition.

Maxxis' #88 Joel Hetrick grabbed the holeshot in Pro Moto One

“The first moto was great, I pulled the holeshot and everything seemed to work out awesome. My DASA motor pulled me out of the start and the Maxxis tires were gripping. I put some fast laps down in the beginning and pulled a little gap on Chad [Wienen]. I knew he was lying back with the championship on the line, but I just ran my race. I knew what I had to do today. It would be hard for me to get the championship, so I just wanted to go out there and put hard laps down and finish the season off strong,” explained Hetrick.

After a dominant first moto, some bad luck held Hetrick back from the overall win he was looking for. “Second moto didn’t turn out how I wanted. I stalled and had to come back from tenth. I put a hard charge on and caught up to third, which still gave me second overall for the day. It’s definitely not how I wanted to end it, but I worked with what I had,” stated Hetrick.

Elka Suspension's Joel Hetrick finished the season off with eleven moto wins & 4 overall wins in 2015

The 2015 season was easily one of Hetrick’s best, winning the SSI Decals holeshot award, the ATVRiders.com fastest qualifier award, eleven moto wins, four overall wins, and keeping the points battle closer than it has been in many years. Hetrick credits much of his success to his support system, saying, “It was a great season. Jay Gobel with Impact Solution had my shocks dialed all season long. Elka suspension has been great all year. Maxxis tires hooked up for that holeshot, and the DASA motor pulled me out of that gate. It’s awesome to have all these great sponsors behind me. This is the greatest season I’ve ever had. It’s definitely monumental for me.”

Even though the 2015 season just came to a close, Hetrick is already focused on 2016 and what he can do to capture the championship. “It was a tight points battle at the end of this season, but I wish it was a little closer. I think without the couple mishaps I made in the beginning of the year it would have been a lot better for me, but I live and learn. We’re going to go out next year and not make any of those mistakes and try to get this championship,” said Hetrick.
