Round 2 - Links

Union City, TN (4/23/2015) - Team Joe Byrd had a hot and humid time at the Round 2 MTN Dew ATV Mx Nationals in Kemp, Texas at Underground MX Park. What looked to be a wet and slippery weekend, turned out for dry track conditions considering all the rain endured during the previous days.

Vital Cazenave of Argentina had a great showing in the Pro-Am class pulling the Holeshot in Moto 1 and taking the win. During Moto 2, Vital got a bad start and ended up mid-pack. He steadily made his way up to 3rd place and got 2nd Overall in Pro-Am. Vital is currently leading the class in Points.

Vital was in the top 10 during Moto 1 in the Pro class, when his quad suffered from mechanical issues, forcing him to pull off the track. During Moto 2 Vital got 8th and ended up 13th overall for the weekend in the Pro class.

Kirkland Jack, of Florida had a great race weekend. He got 2nd in Moto 1 and Moto 2 in his 450B class and ended up finishing 2nd overall. During the Production B class, Kirkland got a 3rd in Moto 1 and 1st in Moto 2 with a class finish of 1st Overall. Kirkland currently leads both his 450B and Production B class in Points!!

Byrd made a last minute decision to race after enduring 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his leg the previous week. He came to support and cheer on fellow riders. After arriving to the track Friday, he quickly realized his quad needed more work than expected, he spent most of Friday race prepping his quad, only to go out Saturday for first qualifying and realizing his quad was worse off than he originally thought. Byrd only made a couple laps of practice during both qualifiers, causing him to get 14th gate pick.

He went out and endured the leg pain during the race and ended up getting 8th overall for the weekend. Joe is hoping his leg is feeling much better before Muddy Creek enabling him to get more practice time in this week.
